Green Park

1. Information for Visitors

(1) Opening hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

(2) Closed: Tuesdays (open if Tuesday falls on a National Holiday - closed the following day in such cases), December 29 to 31, January 1 to 3

(3) Facilities

・ Lawn Area

An expansive precinct of around 4 hectares, featuring flower gardens and a playground corner. Visitors find their own individual ways of enjoying this area.

・ Outdoor stage

A stage that can be used for a wide range of outdoor events. Seating is available for 800, but up to 1,200 can be catered for by using the surrounding Lawn Area.

・ Adventure Forest

A variety of play equipment constructed using logs.

・ Rose Garden

Around 320 different plants produce some 2,500 individual flowers. Best viewing times are from mid May to late June, and from late October to mid December.

・ Japanese Garden

Designed in the authentic Japanese style, featuring a waterfall and pond.

・ Tropical Ecology Zone

Around 4,000 tropical plants, representing approximately 130 different species, are on display here, alongside some 2,600 creatures from around 75 different tropical-dwelling species.

・ Tropical Fruit Tree Greenhouse

This facility consists of two buildings - Greenhouse 2 and Greenhouse 3, each housing its own distinctive variety of tropical flora.

・ Urban Greening Center

A hub for information on flowers and greenery. Activities include consultation and guidance sessions on flower and plant matters, exhibitions, and lectures and courses.

・ Kangaroo Zone (Hibiki Animal World)

One of Japan's foremost facilities for natural care and breeding of marsupials. Animals raised here include kangaroos and wallabies. There are around 250 animals in total, including the curious Wombat with its cuddly toy-like appearance, and the Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby, which cannot be seen anywhere else in Japan.

・ Pony Zone

Ponies can be fed for a fee of 100 yen.

Pony rides and cart rides are also available for a fee.

・ Cycling Terminal

Bicycles are available rent together four-wheeled buggies, pedal boats and other vehicles.

(4) Prohibitions and cautions

 Please do not bring pets (guide dogs / service dogs allowed - except in the Kangaroo Zone), or have barbeques in the Park.

 Please do not bring any of the following items into the Park: skateboards, personal vehicles (anything from one- to four-wheeled vehicles), bats (either wooden or metallic), sleds, roller skates, kickboards, fishing equipment, stilts, golfing equipment, radio-controlled devices, pogo sticks, balls (either soft or hard), other hazardous items.

 Please do not smoke except in the designated areas.

(4) Other services

 Baby buggy hire

Baby buggies are available for hire at both the North and South Gates. Cost is 100 yen per day. Both "B-style" and "A+B-style" models are available. Please note that numbers are limited, and it is not possible to reserve in advance.

 Wheelchair hire

Wheelchairs are available free of charge at both the North and South Gates. Please note that numbers are limited, and it is not possible to reserve in advance.

3. Access

(1) By Nishitetsu Bus

Three services per day operate from Kokura station (South exit) on Sundays and National Holidays only. Journey time is 40 minutes.

(2) By Kitakyushu City Bus

From Wakamatsuwatashiba (heading for Waita): 2 services daily on weekdays, 3 services daily on Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays. Journey time is 30 minutes.

From Futajima station (heading for Waita): 3 services daily on weekdays, 5 services daily on Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays. Journey time is 15 minutes.
